Ylem is a diagnostic company founded by people involved for long time in this field.
Ylem has correctly identified the opportunities offered by establishing a manufacturing operation in the "mezzogiorno" area (Central-Southern Italy).
Its main activity is to develop and produce Products and Antibodies for Immunohistochemistry and Flow Cytometry, through several agreements with Universities and other companies, finalized to the acquisition of cell lines or other type of source, and market Pharmaceutical Products.
Ylem launched worldwide also two patented products for Apoptosis and Lymphocytes Blastogenesis.
The Company has expanded its activities to include joint co-operation sub-manufacturing arrangements to avoid the growing import costs and to take the advantage of an in-house control of the production.
Ylem, as above mentioned, currently has arrangements in Immunohistochemistry, Flow Cytometry, Molecular Biology, Clinical Chemistry.
 
BACKGROUND / HISTORY

The principle of Ylem have been in the diagnostic/laboratory industry in Italy for 48 years. The more recent history begins with "Elles", a broad laboratory/diagnostic importer and distributor founded in 1970.
The company "Sudeco" was founded in 1979 to concentrate the efforts on diagnostics. Initially Clinical Chemistry and Ria were the focus. As non-Ria techniques became more popular, Sudeco introduced Eia/Elisa products to their range.
Ylem was founded in September 1987 to take advantage of the benefits offered to companies manufacturing in the mezzogiorno.
The group of companies have continued and are having consistent success firstly by choosing the correct products and then by successfully marketing them throughout Italy.
All of the group's activities have now been consolidated into Ylem and in some other commercial  companies (local resalers/joint-ventures).

CURRENT  OPERATIONS

Ylem's products are being successfully sold throughout Ylem's broad national marketing system.
Starting on 1994 Ylem is represented in  Austria, Germany, Greece, Japan,  Spain, Switzerland, and other countries will be covered soon, with distribution or O.E.M. contracts.
Starting from January 1998 Ylem is the exclusive distributor for Italy and Greece of some strategic instruments: AutoPap, AutoCyte PREP and AutoPapGS by TriPath Imaging.
